Music Website Template Customization: Beckett
Posted by Melanie Kealey on Jul 06, 2017 in: Website Tips, Beautiful Band Website Templates
Are you thinking stylish and sleek for your music website? The Beckett template might be just right for your cover band, Americana duo, or to sell your beats.
With a wide image area, a simple background, plus clean typography, this website template is a winner for any artist looking to make a professional impression!
One image, lots of options
The Beckett website template is modern and spare. This makes it the perfect canvas to add your image and your own touches to make it truly unique.
The header area is wide but narrow, so choose an image that portrays your sound with a glance. This could be a full band photo, some imagery from your recent album, or a picture of your instrument. Something colorful and eye-catching will work well here.
You can also add an image filter over the header area to make your photo black and white, or add an Instagram-like effect for maximum impact.
You can make this image taller or smaller, to match your image size, or remove it altogether by setting the height to 0. This will create a clean look with no image at the top at all.
Make it count with a call-to-action
Want a great way to grab your website visitor’s fleeting attention? Add some text plus a button over your main image. With a call-to-action, direct your fans to buy your new album, sign up to your mailing list, or watch your latest video.

The call-to-action can be styled by positioning it left, right, or center; then moved to the top, middle or bottom. With a button that can be an outline or filled it, it’s a great way to entice people to click and notice what you want them to.
Style the call-to-action even further by adding a border, adjusting the thickness and color, and then setting colors for the heading and subheading text.
Variations of a theme
Choose from white, black or purple as your base background color. Think of these as a starting point - we’ve selected the colors and paired them with minimal fonts for a stylish look. If you’re just wanting to quickly create a look that showcases your sounds, grab one and go!
To get a bit more custom, springboard from those options by adding your own fonts (even a custom font if you’d like!), changing the colors, and adding loads of content to round out your website’s design.
Once you’ve got your content in place, play around with the layout to shift things into place. A thin column flanked by a wider column, or full-width sections all down the page makes things interesting.
Loading animations
As your website loads, the Beckett template features smooth animation. This means your image, logo or text, menu, and then content will float in seamlessly.
Little things like this are a hallmark of modern web design, and will add a polished effect to your professional website.
Want even more motion? Try adding a video header to that nice wide space at the top. You can still overlay a video with an image filter or a call-to-action, so try things out to see what what works just right.
Stunning typography
With a simple design, the stage is set for image and font choice to have their moment. Choose from a list of modern fonts and be sure to pick one as your heading text that is interesting.
If you have a logo, that can be uploaded right up top and center above your menu. A rectangular logo will work best; if you haven’t got one ready to go, enter your band name in plain text, then choose a font to create a text logo.
Then, make that logo match your feature title font to pull everything together.

Consider mixing and matching fonts, from the content to feature titles, but keep the sizing consistent for text that is easy to read. Setting the feature titles as uppercase or a different color will make them stand out within your content area.
Making good use of typography is a subtle but effective way to make those pages that have more text, such as a press kit or music page, appear professional. Once these pages are visited, you want them to be easily read and understood, with the information quickly findable.
The key to this is choosing a font color that stands out, and adjusting the line spacing and letter spacing.

Color coordination
Make everything work together, from the links to the buttons and social media icons. If your logo is black, add touches of black throughout your website. This could be black and white images or links.
Your font and background color should also coordinate with your images to keep things looking consistent. Once you’ve selected a color, it’ll remain in the color swatches so it’s easy to re-use in different places.
With a wide image loading in flawlessly, plus tons of space for content, the Beckett template is stunning. It will pull your music website design together in a professional package with a wow factor!
